Janet E. Bostwick has nearly 30 years of experience dealing with financially troubled companies, both finding innovative solutions for companies in financial distress and assisting clients who may be affected by the financial downfall of a company.

She opened her own firm, Janet E. Bostwick, PC, in 2001, to focus on all aspects of business bankruptcy and commercial workouts including Chapter 11 proceedings, reorganizations, loan workouts, out-of-court agreements and settlements, Chapter 7 proceedings, liquidations and wind-downs.

Ms. Bostwick takes an individualized approach, helping clients find the best solution for their specific situation. She helps companies in financial trouble determine if reorganization is possible and the best way to achieve the desired result. She helps creditors and others who deal with the impact of a bankruptcy identify their options and the best way to manage a resolution of their problems.

Ms. Bostwick is a leader in professional associations, including the Boston Bar Association and International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation. She has lectured frequently on bankruptcy issues for the American Bankruptcy Institute, Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, the Boston Bar Association and other continuing legal education programs.

She earned a J.D. from Cornell Law School and a B.A. in economics and mathematics from the State University of New York at Albany. Prior to launching Janet E. Bostwick, PC, Ms. Bostwick practiced in Boston at the firms of Goldstein & Manello, PC, and Sherin and Lodgen, LLP.

Honors:

American College of Bankruptcy

In 2007, Ms. Bostwick was inducted in the American College of Bankruptcy, an honorary association which extends invitations to join to distinguished insolvency and bankruptcy professionals who have demonstrated the highest standards of the professionalism and service to the profession. Ms. Bostwick has served on the First Circuit Council since 2008.

Melnik Award for Exceptional IWIRC Member

In 2005, Ms. Bostwick received an award from IWIRC to recognize her substantial contributions to the organization.

BBA Bankruptcy Law Committee Special Achievement Award

In 1998, Ms. Bostwick received the first Special Achievement Award bestowed by the BBA Bankruptcy Law Section. The award recognized Ms. Bostwick’s efforts in organizing and administering a special program to provide pro bono counsel for clients of bankruptcy attorneys who had been suspended or disbarred.
